Our Vision for Students
Pacific Theological Seminary is a diverse and multi-denominational learning community dedicated to empowering pastors, church, community leaders and neighbors to answer God’s unique call on their lives. We develop ethical, compassionate, and humble leaders for churches and communities by offering graduate degrees, continuing education, and customized non-degree programs. We are known in San Diego and beyond for our relational, biblically responsible, and practical approach to theological, spiritual and ministry formation.

"Interested in Pacific Seminary? Picture this! The faces above show an informal prayer gathering of students, faculty and staff prior to our opening Fall 2025 classes. In our first four PTS years offering courses, some 150 men and women have been mentored for service to our awesome God and precious neighbors. An invitation: read I Peter 4:10, explore our offerings and prayerfully discern whether The Spirit may lead you here. As a San Diego native, and wide-ranging pastor-teacher for 35+ years (see faculty bio), I'm praying Psalm 23 for us all. Welcome!”
Dr. James D. Smith III, President & Professor
