About

Dr. Glen G. Scorgie, a Canadian, has been a resident of San Diego since 1996. He holds a doctorate in ecclesiastical history from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. For many years he served as professor of theology (and ethics) at Bethel Seminary, and prior to that as academic vice-president of North American Baptist College in Edmonton, Alberta. He is a licensed minister of Converge (formerly, the Baptist General Conference), an irenic church denomination with a Pietistic heritage. For over two decades, he has been involved in the ministries of local Chinese churches. He has also lectured on numerous occasions internationally, especially in Asia.

His research interests include the global mission of the church, the ethics of creation care, and theologically informed approaches to Christian spirituality. He is a past president of the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality, and the general editor of the Zondervan Dictionary of Christian Spirituality. He also serves as an editorial consultant for the Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care. He and his wife Kate, a retired Azusa Pacific University professor, have three adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren.
